I have always used Windows with Widows Defender and never had a problem or a virus.
But when i read these forum i think about to use a good antivirus program.
Any suggestions for Windows 10?

I would like to suggest some backup software such as Macrium Reflect or Aomei Backupper, both have free and reliable version. ;)

And maybe Emsisoft Emergency Kit as an extra on demand scanner. Thanks for sharing. :)

There's a lot of paranoia here... plus a lot of security soft enthusiasts. We are both paranoid and addicted to playing with security softs... :D

In reality, security soft is a just-in-case counter-measure if you are very safe in your computing habits. Something like: "It's better to be safe, than sorry."

You will find lots of good infos here at MT.

Windows Defender is definitely a fine tune antvirus for you, even though the stage of protection is at 'baseline' hence doesn't mean worst at all. It can compete against zero day very well on that case.

Less worries and hassle but you are still open to have alternative 3rd party AV programs out there.

Edge still lacks extension support, but you may do the steps like modify the host with numerous ad trackers, or add a backup browser with your favourite addons.

MVPS as an example

if you do nothing Windows defender can be enough, but other antivrus has additional features, for instance Avast has self-defense module so that malware do not shutdown Avast, others have external drive scan option upon connecting to desktop or even deny the connection.

Windows Defender is improved and it can guarantee a certain level of protection for "normal" use, along with MBA.
It is integrated into the OS and is simple to use.
Lacks the ability to scan a file/folder directly from the right-click context menu (according to my previous test, please correct me if wrong)
