[QUOTE="Orchid, post: 1022916, member: 98800"] Students of any education level should not get administrative privileges. No matter how smart they are. Students can make mistakes, damage the school's laptop, or corrupt the network. While I don't know for sure, I'm guessing if the student's laptop connects to the school network and a student downloads malware or ransomware, it will affect the whole school. The hackers would then have all students/staff information and whatever else the school stored on their system. Most likely, schools would be closed while administrators try to restore working order, etc. Depending on how long the school is closed, it will affect the school year. When I was in high school, if we closed school for more than what was allowed, we had to make up the school days. To make up the school days, we would go to school on holidays or extend the school year. So what would you rather have, having administrative rights on the laptop with the possibility of a longer/extended school year when the network is compromised or not having administrative privileges on the school laptop and having a regular school year?
