I vote 9:

Passwords - Sticky Password create passwords for me
Reputable AV - I use ESET
E-mail - always cautious
Mobile device - I use adguard for blocking ads and only install other apps from the play store.
2 FA - Enabled where possible
Public Wi-Fi - I use Telstra Air and if I need to log into something I make sure that site has 2FA and log out of it when done. Then I clear the sessions (so that all my devices be logged out) when I get home
adblocker - I use adguard for blocking ads
Customized privacy settings
Updates I download updates when needed

Voted 6. I have got no AV. I do not care about emails, since I open them in plain text. I do not have an exploitable phone. I would never ever use 2FA, I value my accounts.

Here's my response to the checklist:

  1. Create bulletproof passwords - Check, I use Roboform/Lastpass/Dashlane/Sticky Password to generate 15-25 character complex passwords. All passwords and safe notes copied across providers cloud storage to maintain redundancy.
  2. Keep software up to date - Check. OS and other software updates on a daily basis. But after the CCleaner fiasco I have to wonder. ;-)
  3. Use reputable antivirus software - Check. Norton Security or KIS or BDTS with Heimdal Security, Malwarebytes 3 and Zemana Antilogger
  4. Email with caution - Check, I use a commercial/paid email service with AV scanning as my primary email, not the normal free Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo accounts.
  5. Don’t forget about your mobile device - I use an iPhone that's safer, but the Android handset has Norton Mobile Security installed.
  6. Use two-factor authentication - Check, on all accounts that support 2FA
  7. Be wary of public Wi-Fi - Check, I use the Operator's LTE data connection. Never used any public Wi-Fi, ever.
  8. Browse using an encrypted connection: Check, using HTTPsEverywhere and VPN
  9. Use an adblocker - Check Adguard and/or uBlock Origin
  10. Customize privacy settings - Facebook account tightly sewn up with 2FA and high privacy settings. No deeply personal or private data shared on FB.
  11. Cautious but confident - Check, yeah, I also use pfSense 2.4 (RC) with Snort and PfBlockerNG

And I'll add the following to the list:
  1. Use backup software for data and your OS. Local (hard disks and NAS) plus cloud backups (OneDrive, Mega, Amazon Drive, Zoolz etc) work best for me. This hybrid backup offers speed + offsite disaster recovery
  2. Do NOT use pirated software. Cracked executables, libraries and keygens are very likely trojans or other malware.

1. Create bulletproof passwords
Keeper

2. Keep software up to date
UCheck, Glary Utilities (Software Updater), Secunia PSI, Kaspersky Software Updater. Although as others rightfully mentioned above, CCleaner's case is the proof that sometimes latest isn't necessarily the greatest.

3. Use reputable antivirus software
Bitdefender Total Security, Malwarebytes Premium, Zemana Antilogger, plus several others for on-demand daily scans

4. Email with caution
Always. I don't use free mail services, and I filter everything with SpamDrain.

5. Don’t forget about your mobile device
My Android phone is protected by Bitdefender mobile security and behind VyprVPN. Plus, I periodically run on-demand scans with Malwarebytes, Zemana, and Comodo.

6. Use two-factor authentication
Yes, always (whenever possible).

7. Be wary of public Wi-Fi
I almost never use public Wi-Fi. If for some reason I find myself that I have to, I am always behind a VPN.

8. Browse using an encrypted connection
VyprVPN, AdGuard, HTTPS Everywhere.

9. Use an adblocker
I have been using in different combinations AdGuard, Adblock Plus, Ghostery, etc.

10. Customize privacy settings
I play around a lot with security product settings and configurations in my virtual lab to see what it works for me and what doesn't. I always try to strike that stability and security balance for my systems.
