The man in the black shirt and jeans who knew people would fall in love with the iPod, iPhone and iPad before they did is stepping back from Apple Inc., which grew into one of the world's strongest companies as its leader's health failed him.

Steve Jobs' resignation Wednesday appears to be the result of an unspecified medical condition for which he took a leave from his post in January. Apple's chief operating officer, Tim Cook, was quickly named CEO of the company Jobs co-founded in his garage 35 years ago.

In a letter addressed to Apple's board and the "Apple community," Jobs said he "always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."

RE: Apple Master Resigns

Steve Job manage to make Apple great....even if he isn't officially in charge I'm sure he will still get involved in Apple's projects.
The new guy doesn't seems to have the Apple spirit... Innovation...but who knows.

Yes, I'm sure he may have stepped down officially but he'll still be holding quite a bit of influence over the company and its direction.

Apple's stock.
Each time something big happens, not only with Apple but with all the big companies , it will get the stocks trend down.
Steve Jobs resignation was a 'Breaking News', this is why the stocks were affected , in order to avoid this situation , Apple could have 'prepare the field' ...so that people wouldn't be take by surprise.
Anyway the stocks will recover, I wouldn't be worried about that.......The main issue is if Apple would be able to release 'hot' products without Steve Jobs. :)

RE: Steve Jobs, Apple CEO and creative force, resigns

Doesn't seem to be taking a very big hit. I just thought people might want a look.

Jobs letter helped :
I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
Here is why I think it didn't take a big hit, its because almost everyone says that Steve Jobs will continue working behind the scenes and this resignation is only a official thing but at unofficial level he will still run things....

I had no idea he had pancreatic cancer. That is a tough thing. It is amazing he is active at all.

Maybe he had enough money for expensive treatments...

Anyway, I wonder if this will affect the quality and prices of Apple products...hmm.

Most likely no , Jobs was a important part of Apple but lets not forget that their is a entire team behind this company. And Apple isn't a new company so surely everyone knows what they need to do.... What Steve Jobs brought to the company were most likely the ideas....so this is the field were Apple could lose the most.

i hope it will not become reality

I wish Steve good health. I have been guilty of cracking on him in the past and making jokes about his inferiority complex as a result of his personal rivalry with Bill Gates. I would not have cracked on him so hard if I knew he was ill.

'Shocking' Images of Skeletal Steve Jobs May Be Fake

Purported photos of Steve Jobs taken right after his resignation as CEO are circulating on the web with one ‘skeptic’ (allegedly knowledgeable of doctored photos) claiming the images are fake.

Leaked to tabloid TMZ by a representative at Pacific Coast News, the images in question seem to indicate Steve Jobs’ fight with cancer is ongoing.

In fact, the images would have us believe Jobs’ already bad condition is taking a turn for the worse.

Depicting a former Apple CEO looking more frail than ever, the pictures may actually be doctored, according to one person with knowledge of photography editing software.

Screenshot that it was known to be a tabloid
