Suzuki Motorcycle India was forced to stop operations at its plants owing to cyber-attack on its systems. Manufacturing was reportedly halted since May 10, and it is estimated that since then the company lost production of over 20,000 vehicles.

Suzuki Motorcycle recently told its stakeholders that it has postponed its annual supplier conference, which was scheduled for next week, owing to an "unprecedented business requirement" as part of its efforts to handle the unprecedented current situation.

In an email response to ETAuto, a Suzuki Motorcycle India spokesperson said, “We are aware of the incident and have promptly reported the same to the concerned Government department. The matter is currently under investigation, and for security purposes we are unable to provide further details at this point in time.”

When the manufacturing will begin again and the attack's origin was not disclosed by the spokesperson.

With the production of about a million units, Suzuki Motorcycle was the fifth-largest two-wheeler producer in the country in FY23. India is its biggest market outside of Japan, similar to its sister company, Maruti Suzuki. Suzuki Motor Japan uses it as a major export centre, with 20% of its output going to important international markets.
