I use Eset smart security on my old laptop but recently I have bought a new laptop with core i7 CPU and 8G RAM .
Although i know nobody can introduce one product as the best, and answer to this question might varry depending on users experience and personal views, but i want to choose the one that works effectively with high detection and protection rate.

If dear professional users do a favor and help me to choose a good anti : virus, malware, spyware, worm, etc and firewall solution and configuration that i can have in my new lap top to maximize the protection,I'll be very thankful and any help is appreciated.

I checked some of the tests done here by some of the users and According to these tests,I think Tiranium has had best detection rate among the other opponents but It is not as known and trusted as famous ones like: Bitdefender,Kaspa,Eset, etc .

And when i search the net most of the review sites choose Bitdefender as the best anti virus and Comodo internet security as the best IS and firewall according to the tests they have done,And someone suggested me to use Bitdefender anti virus and Kasparesky Internet security simultaneously.

But when i check this forum, other options seem to be better.
It is really difficult to decide what product should i choose...
Paid or free one doesn't matter at all for me if they can provide security.

Thank you very much for taking time and reading my post and helping me.

I think the windows firewall it perfectly fine for any computer. If you don't want that then Comodo is probably the best option.

For AV i use windows defender and Avast. both have no problems and i have not had a virus in over a year.
Also get another backup web browser it will really help if you have any problems. I actually have 4 web browsers installed on my computer. A good password management will be helpful too. I use keepass a lot of people use lastpass.

Thank you for sharing,
Shaun

For your new laptop with maximum specs you may try those big daddy AV's like Qihoo or Gdata. ;)

Since their performance gather a bit resources due to their multi engines.

What you should do is experiment and find the AV that suits what you like. As in looks and ability. Everyone has their preferred UI. It's a new system so install one you think you will like and leave it a week. Then ask yourself. Was it what i want/expected? Then build from there. If it wasn't then try a different one.

Even top Antivirus products have a difficult time detecting Adware/PUP that often come bundled with web installers or from third-party download sites. In a recent private test, Tiranium Internet Security failed to detect Adware/PUP, that is why I recommend Unchecky. You can see a thread about Unchecky here, http://malwaretips.com/threads/unchecky-update-topic.20140/ or go to http://unchecky.com

Windows 8 and 8.1 comes with it's own built-in Antivirus + Anti-spyware. It's identical to Microsoft Security Essentials that is available for Windows XP/Vista/7, but re-branded under the existing Windows Defender name, however it does protect your PC from viruses, trojans and other malware.
> You may discover that Windows Defender does not score the highest results according to many websites, but in my experience of using WD, I have not been infected once, confirmed with post-scans with Malwarebytes and ESET, the results are clean.

Out of the box, Windows 8 comes with an the following:
  • Windows Defender - Real-time Antivirus + Anti-spyware protection
  • Windows SmartScreen - Reputation checks for any files or apps downloaded from the Internet
  • Windows Firewall
  • User Access Control
  • Windows Update - Keeps the Windows OS and (opt-in) Microsoft software up-to-date.
  • Other security-related features can be found on TechNet.
If you're looking for more protection, then I can recommend a custom installation of Avast! Free Antivirus. Please see the topics below:
> avast! Pro Antivirus, Fake Warnings, Softonic Partnership and Free Adware!
> avast! Online Installer offers Dropbox software! - (avast! Offline installers are available).

Bottom line: A product with the highest detection rate and many protection features will not protect every PC user.

I like ESET,Emsisoft Internet Security 9 as well as KIS.Avast is a good free choice with windows firewall, smartscreen and UAC.I would avoid those not so mainstream AV projects because relying on tests that are subjective should not be relied upon to choose a security program.
I would add an on demand scanner(s) such as Malwarebytes,Emsisoft Emergency Kit,Hitman Pro and or ESET Online Scanner
Sandboxie is a great program especially for browsing.
Any backup solution?
CCleaner or Privazer?
Chrome extensions such a uBlock,HTTPS Everywhere

I use CCleaner too,But no online backup solution due to low internet speed.Although i copy&paste my important data into my external hard drive.
Thanks everybody for sharing their opinions.
I had not heard anything about sandboxie before. Thanks for suggestion.
In total, after comparing tests results, users opinions, etc,I think Eset beside sandboxie will be good choices for me.

tondar85, thank you for sharing your configuration!:) Since joining near the beginning of 2014, Malware Tips (this amazing community of computer Superheros) has taught me the bulk of what has been recommended for you here!:p Our privacy is our security, and I've learned CCleaner is also considered a privacy software by it's removal of the traces accumulated from where we have visited.
I have also grown to know and appreciate the higher security enjoyed while browsing within a sandbox (Sandboxie) and used, like yourself, Google Chrome. We have a x64 bit Windows 8.1 system too, yet have learned too how those of us with the same systems can also experience very different results. Since it's latest releases, Chrome is currently not functioning with Sandboxie on our system, so instead I've returned to using Firefox (installed) plus (2) Mozilla x64 bit Gecko engined (FireFox- like) browsers whose performance and security are impressive. We chose these browsers in their portable versions which were extracted, respectively, onto their own external USB Flash Drives, and are used on our Windows 7 system too.;) This option alleviates additional registries added onto the system. Updates, though not automatic, are performed by extracting them directly over the previous versions.

For encryption anonymity for your ISP, members & staff have posted VPNs (virtual personal networks) to be most effective.
Presently, I use (respetively) two free extensions to mask my locations.
As @Shaun mentioned, many of us use the free extension LastPass. You can read more about it here:
It is our family's favorite and most used extension!:D

Update: I've just read abine (developers of DoNotTrackMe) are now offering a password manager extension for Chrome by the name blur. Though I know of no one yet whom has used this feature.

My opinion is to try some antivirus software and then decide your self what is the best for your system.from my experience this is the most safe way to find a security software that you like;).
Thanks for sharing.

i will say Windows built-in security (windows defender + windows Firewall) since you have win8 ; and add Appguard (an anti-executable that consider every files as potentially infectable, check the website) over the top.
