Difficult times if you happen to run a Tor exit node ( ie. you are one of the "Good Guys" )

Attacked Over Tor - The Hacker Factor Blog

From that article :-

"The problems that I'm experiencing with my Tor Hidden Service are similar but different from non-Tor services. They have the same basic causes -- bots and denial-of-service attacks -- but the Tor architecture introduces a serious problem. This problem leads to choke point on the hidden service server. Bad bots and attackers can create a bottleneck, resulting in a denial of service. Without rewriting the tor daemon or spawning dozens of parallel servers, there are few mitigation options."

This person is doing some top-quality monitoring on bots ..... eg Who is Eddie ?
It's a very good read if you happen to be a Tor Geek , otherwise it's probably on a par with watching paint dry :)

Good, if I was in Government I'd do everything in my power to shut the entire service down. The developers who help god knows what to be brought ability to watch sexual abuse and ISIS and terrorists to communicate freely, should be put in prison.

These groups also use services on the visible web, such as Facebook, encrypted Messaging apps, Social Media sites and more. Not everything bad is done "underground", sometimes it's done right in front.

And the original developers were the US Navy! Not every Tor user is a bad guy - it's also used by people like journalists operating out of countries that aren't exactly friendly, etc...

Tor does a lot of good for a lot of people. The biggest problem with the service is how it's perceived by outsiders and the press. All you hear about is the criminal element of it; the sale of drugs, guns, stolen credentials, child porn, hacking services, etc. What you don't hear about is the activists and journalists evading execution by their repressive regimes, domestic violence victims being able to get in contact with agencies that can help them without their abusers finding out or whistleblowers exposing wrongdoing and corruption.

To add to the above, Tor is the only competitor against governments. Otherwise, they could easily censor or target people. Frankly, moot point since Tor exists and continues to exist. Governments can't counter it, they can only check it.

Thank you folks !

It's always good to read intelligent comments from the well-informed people on here .

Equally , it's hilarious to read the mindless drivel from reactionary imbeciles , who clearly rely on sensationalist pseudo-journalism
for all of their information , on every topic under the sun :)

journalists use to be there to call/and bring to account Government plans and laws. Now it's so politically correct i.e., CNN and BBC, it's pathetic, political correctness needs to go in the bin where it belongs.
