99% sure its fake because i just logged on to my online banking and had no messages about it or anything... hmm

If you logged on to your account, it's obviously fake. ;)

Some things to remember.

Your bank is never going to ask you to verify anything through email. Especially using a link...

They should block access to your online account after a number of incorrect password attempts, but I've never heard of a bank that would also put a hold on your funds due to this. This sounds like a scare tactic of someone trying to phish for your personal information.
 
I agree, if you made errors during typing your password, the link to recover it will be on the website itself not by mail.

and if you observe the adress of the mail; the domain is quite abnormal and long. a legit email from HSBC should just have @hsbc.com or @hsbc.com.uk
 
Kind of wondering is the LINK the same as displayed in the email.
