What a journey!

Manjaro was doing so well, untill it locked me out of the SU inlog, meaning no Password was working anymore.
System restore has not run yet so no way to restore, and to restore, yes, need the SU Password !

Reading on the Manjaro forum no luck, no option to reset or change without the original password.

So i popped in my USB with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. I need a stable system because too busy with work and family, no time to try here and there any new distro.

Welcome back Ubuntu my old thrustworthy friend !

My first Linux venture I went with Ubuntu over Red Hat for our server because at that time it was so well documented. That one factor turned out to be a windfall when I realized what I had gotten into.

A must read, this fella wrote an amazing blog/article which is so true.

Do you dual boot with Windows or run Linux as a single OS - A few years back I dual booted with I think Windows 10 & Ubuntu also had a try with Zorin - I was never happy with dual booting, as one or the other boot systems would have problems. I'm considering trying Linux again maybe pay for Zorin, but it's a big step - But will probably do it - My main issue is getting a replacement for DBPoweramp & a couple of DVD/BluRay rippers that from memory just aren't replicated in Linux - I did use HandBrake but it' a 100 times slower that DBPoweramp & useless for my needs.

I ditched Windows here on both computers, all are installed with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Microsoft has become the worst it can become.

  • AI Everywhere
  • No TPM no Windows 11, how can you force users like this ( i know Rufus can handle this but the way they act make me wanna puke )
  • Account needed for everything
  • Never ending updates, mistakes....
  • Ignorant

I have paid licenses for Windows 11, but i never want to get into the Microsoft Bubble again.

Its one of the few that works on ALL distro using the Flatpak version and also recommended by Manjaro.

Do not pay for Zorin, basically its just Ubuntu. Then install Ubuntu or Debian instead.
