Ublock Origin lite never had quick fix filter, Gorhill has clearly said he will not do it as it is an ideological issue for him, he will not spend time on MV3 work arounds and has asked everyone to move to Firefox.

Adguard has again brought back Quick Fix filter but: "Now, of the script and scriptlet rules that are added to Custom filters, User rules or Quick fixes filter, only those already used in pre-built filters will work"

Coud be wrong about uBO lite, not installed for the moment.

I don't see a quick fixes filter in the current AdGuard version 5.0.193.
Their GitHub page is not up to date, last update 14/01/2025, current extension is from 12/02/2025.
The blog post I linked to earlier has information from 28/01/2025.

This is the crux of the issue between MV2 & MV3 extensions, using workarounds to "improve" the MV3 variant. My view is that these 'fixes' are liable to be unstable, and potential security risks. This is one reason I've moved primarily to Privacy Badger, especially for Chromium browsers. The best browser options for MV2 are Firefox, or rely on Brave's ad blocker, if you can put up with the browser's various bloatware and telemetry issues.

I tried the ADGuard extension but I find it a bit slow for my PCs and I also notice delays in updating the detected targets with the relative number in the icon. Many times no number appears and it seems like it is not doing anything, then after a while it unblocks. So I am using Ghostery which I find much more fluid and fast and at the moment it is blocking everyone even within the videos on Youtube. Reading better the privacy section on their official website it seems to be reliable also from this point of view, or at least this is my first impression.

I need to be sure they update their extension regularly before I consider switching back. I really like the extension - it does a great job, performs well, and feels lightweight.

So based on the changelog, the change is only a filter update? It took them over 30+ days just for that?

If it's only filter updates, I would recommend releasing updates at least once a week, or at most every 10 days.

Cold shower for all Chromium browser users: if you want proper ad blocking functionality, you HAVE TO switch to Firefox or any other Gecko-based browser.

At the beginning of MV3 migration, Google bragged how they are working together with ad block devs to make the impact minimal. This was just temporary measure to show us how they "care". In reality they don't really care, just wanted devs to shut up about MV3 limitations.

If you followed the news recently, Google slowely started to add more and more limitations for ad blockers. This was always the plan. The goal is to completely limit the ad blocking ability as ad blocking goes against Google's core business.

MV3 migration didn't happen because of security as they claim. It was done to maximize their profits, and they will successfully do that because Chromium is the most used browser engine. I give ad blockers few years before they completely stop working in Chromium browsers.

I made the switch when transition to MV3 started and I couldn't be happier with Firefox.

Information regarding the "Quick fixes filter"

Bad news, but it's still impressive that they consistently push updates back-to-back on a regular basis.

@Marko :) you are right, but I will not switch to Firefox. I guess I will just have to deal with it.

Performance, cross-device synchronization, a smoother browsing experience, and using it at work as well.
I switched from Brave to Firefox because of performance and ad blocking. Firefox loads websites way more quicker than any Chromium browser on my gaming laptop. On my old laptop I used Brave because Firefox didn't work that great. It definitely has something to do with hardware specs. I don't remember in which particular version, but they did improve the performance recently even more.
Firefox feels too rigid in its design, and I’ve noticed that YouTube runs slower on it compared to Edge.
I saw reports about that in the past, but never actually experienced it myself. I also read how just by changing user-agent, YouTube starts working like in any other Chromium browser. That's actually on Google, making their websites slower on purpose in Firefox so people would just stay on Chrome. Luckily, there are ways of changing user-agent and making Google's websites think we're using Chrome. There's even an open source extension for this called Chrome Mask.

In my opinion, using Ghostery in Chrome seems to be a good compromise for those (like me) who don't want to switch to Firefox.
In my opinion, at the moment the extension seems to do its job well, it seems to be very responsive and not heavy even on older PCs.
I obviously leave other more experienced people to have further opinions on the matter. :)

If anyone is interested in the details of Ghostery's filter update, here's the response they got from their tech support:

"Our filters update daily, with most cosmetic and network filters updating independently.

However, more complex issues may require changes to the extension's code, which requires a full extension update."

Strange, I thought that was not possible anymore with MV3 extensions.
AdGuard and uBlock Lite need a full extension update.

With Ghostery it seems that this is not the case, as confirmed to me by their support and by what I see in the filter settings in the extension:
