Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) Final Freeze Now in Effect, It Launches on October 13

A few hours ago, October 6, 2016, Canonical's Adam Conrad announced that the upcoming Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) operating system has entered the Final Freeze development stage.

Dubbed Yakkety Yak, the Ubuntu 16.10 is the latest release of the popular Linux distribution used by millions of computer users worldwide. Actually, Ubuntu is not only available for desktop, server, and cloud, but also on your smartphone or table mobile device.

The Final Freeze stage is the last step in the development process of the distribution, and it means that only important packages that fix critical bugs will be accepted in the repositories. With this, the development cycle has come to an end, and now Canonical prepares for the final release of Ubuntu 16.10.

"As of now, yakkety has entered the Final Freeze period in preparation for the final release of Ubuntu 16.10 next week," says Adam Conrad. "The current uploads in the queue will be reviewed and either accepted or rejected as appropriate by pre-freeze standards, but anything from here on should fit two broad categories."

Ubuntu 16.10 hits the streets on October 13, powered by Linux kernel 4.8
October 6 also marks the Language Pack Translation deadline for translators, and there might also be a Release Candidate version seeded internally for final testings. If everything goes well, Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) will hit the streets next week, on October 13, 2016.

I am going to set up a HDD for Linux, it will have everything except for my games,
all of my Steam, Origin, GOG, and UPlay content will be on one 1.5TB drive and I will
dedicate another 1.5TB HDD to a Linux build. It has been some years since I have tinkered
with Linux but this gives me motivation, Thanks Jack.
I will post images of the build I run with once I am done and will start this weekend.
ubuntu was what I played with last time, so to be fair I will install Mint this time round.

I voted "Yes, I will try it in my Virtual Machine" because I'm already using linux (Manjaro) and I don't wanna change since Manjaro is way faster then Ubuntu (but it also has more issues then Ubuntu).

Will be throwing it in the VM for a run. Ubuntu has one of the largest support communities and Repositories. The last time i was running it and testing other Distros, i found Ubuntu to have the best compatibilities with other 3rd party applications, and to be stable.
