UK village gets government-funded super-fast broadband

A village in North Yorkshire has become the first to benefit from super-fast broadband under a UK government scheme.

Communications Minister Ed Vaizey switched on the newly installed "street cabinet", a large green box that will deliver broadband speeds of up to 80Mbps to 90 homes in Ainderby Steeple.

I'm in the UK

I get 75/17 on my 76/18 connection

Great speeds. Just got to know we do have 100megs line. And more for corporates. But its highly costly. People cannot afford that much. It needs to get cheaper.
We will get 30-40 when we get 4g LTE by Bharati Airtel and Tikona for cheap. Maybe in a year by 2014 we will get better speeds.
The area where I live has a start of the art International Arena ie for consulates and NRIS being made, maybe we may get some good lines but until they get cheap its a strict no.
Currently on 3G you can get 15Mbs

15mbps is good for 3G, when I had 3G I got max 3mbps, I hated it with a passion

This is my first Fibre connection, before this I had ADSL2+ and ADSL and the connection was terrible, always problems, and always loads slower than advertised

Finally happy with my connection
