Hi, as you can read I've become victim to this malicious virus that has now locked our PC and cannot seem to be removed. Slapped wrists for not keeping my anti virus updated!! When it first happened I nearly died a death and after trying to bypass into safe mode (didn't work) I switched the machine off until now. I can't seem to do an OTL log

Hi and welcome to the malwaretips.com forums!

I'm Kuttus and I am going to try to assist you with your problem. Please take note of the below:
  • I will start working on your malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine!
  • The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Refrain from running self fixes as this will hinder the malware removal process.
  • It may prove beneficial if you print of the following instructions or save them to notepad as I post them.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

Before we start:
Please be aware that removing malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

What is the Operating System you are using?

  • Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop
Note as you are running from CD it is not exactly speedy
  • Insert the USB with FRST
  • Locate the flash drive with FRST and double click
  • The tool will start to run.
  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Then, boot to system recovery, plug in your flash drive, open FRST and click fix. Post the generated log. Then attempt to boot to normal mode.

Hi.
Thanks I have done this. Had to rename the file fixlist.txt on the flash drive as it said it couldn't locate it?!?! Hope this was ok. Anyway, ran the fix but it didn't generate any log and I can't seem to locate a log (checked again on the flash drive).

Rebooted PC normally and all working fine. No Ukash ransom screen in sight.

What do I need to do now?

Hi

Results from scans as attached.

I ran the Junkware Removal Tool several times but apart from the initial 'Run' screen, I didn't see anything else and could not find a log for it.

After the MBAM program ran it did not give me an option to show results and check selected items.

Many thanks for your continued help. What do I do next?

Hi
I ran the scans as directed and attached the ESET log. It wont allow me attach the Hitman pro log (even though it is text format). There is no log for Kaspersky as it did not detect any threats.

Thanks

Hi

I've changed the document code for Hitman Pro log so it seems to upload now. Is this ok for you?

I've also now noticed that when I first switch the laptop on there is an error displayed saying the recycle bin on c drive is corrupted and asking if I want to empty the bin or not - I presume I should say 'yes' to this?
