slow pc
Steps taken to resolve, but have been unsuccessful
thinking of an upgrade
thinking of upgrading the old pc (just want to improve it) with ram and gpu for internet purpose... the motherboard supports upto 2gb ram and PCI gpu,will increasing the ram help and is the gpu for this still available?? ...

heres the current specs :

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.26GHz
RAM
1.00GB DDR
Motherboard
Intel D845GVSR
Graphics
SyncMaster (1152x864@60Hz)
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller (Intel)

any help!!

Personally I think you might be better spending your money on a newer PC than upgrading on this one.You can get a much better PC for not much more than you will pay on the upgrade.For just browsing and everyday use you can get one with a good Intel CPU with built in graphics and eliminate the need and cost of a GPU.
Desktop or laptop IMO a new machine would be the best decision

Its too old to do any upgrade on that PC. Nothing much to improve performance on that configuration. Better to go with a complete new system.

Well actually go to purchase a new one, you may save more money all around than those parts by parts; its totally an old and better to use for testing purposes only.

Are you running Windows XP?

In this case, in addition to hardware, you should also upgrade the operating system because XP is no longer supported, so I also recommend buying a new PC.
