VMware Workstation 14 Player Version 14.1.2 is a free upgrade for all VMware Workstation 14 Player users.
  • Windows 10 2018 Spring Creators Update (Version 1803) as host and guest
  • Ubuntu 18.04 support as host and guest
VMware Workstation 14 Player Version 14.1.2 also contains bug fixes, security updates and performance improvements.

Security
This update provides guest access to the SSBD feature in IA32_SPEC_CTRL. This feature will be provided to all HWv9 or later virtual machines when running on an Intel based platform with the appropriate microcode updates. Guest operating systems may choose to use this new CPU feature to mitigate CVE-2018-3639.

Resolved Issues
  • Virtual machines might automatically exit full screen mode after powering on
    On Linux hosts, after you power on a virtual machine and enter full-screen mode, the virtual machine might automatically exit full screen mode.

    This issue is resolved.

  • Two USB devices might list the same device name in the Workstation Player drop-down menu
    When you power on a virtual machine and select Player > Removable Devices, two USB devices with the same PID number but with different VID numbers might list the same device name.

    This issue is resolved.
