For testing purposes, I downloaded a file and ran it on a segregated VM. Different VLAN, KTS enabled, HitmanPro 3.6.6 and Norton Power Eraser. NPE says it's malware, HP and KTS say it's clean.
I have been running VT via Process Explorer for a long time now, multiple reboots to try to trigger a payloard, and VT has been all clean.

So how do I know if there's malware on the VM? This VM is just for testing such stuff, I don't have anything personal on it.

It's possible for malware to evade detection by some security tools. If Norton Power Eraser detected it as malware, it's likely malicious. You can also try using other malware analysis tools or services for further confirmation. Remember, no tool is 100% accurate.

Can you send me the sample or at least a hash as it might be a false positive
Btw if you can send a Farber recovery scan it would be very helpful too to confirm the system is clean
