what is dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate how you get , how you prevent ?

hello as relative newbie, I notice that malware tips is being swamped with requests from members whose pc's been infected with this malware. Im concerned that it is so prevalent & why no normal AV or anti malware prog is reportedly able to remove it. Could you as experts clarify what it is , how is it transmitted to pc's (and not having got it yet), what are best ways of prevention. many thanks
