Serious Discussion What USB boot style scanners besides ESET still exist and is there still a multiscanner USB tool?

Back in the day there was a USB tool that included all the nice Admin recovery tools and scanners all in one boot package, does it still exist?
Also, what other USB Boot scanners exist besides the Eset USB boot scanner ?

I am experiencing a weird anomalous behaviour on my old 2016 Win10 (kept up to date) light ASUS laptop. Now I don't know if it's the touchpad acting funky or if it's an infection. Now I am 99% certain that it's not infected since I have practiced safe hex on that laptop and secondly it's running Deep Instinct maxed out along with Windows Defender configured with Defender UI maxed out. On top of that it's hardened by Andy Ful Harden Windows set to max. I have ran an KVRT scanner and came out with nil. It's also running secure boot (which we know it can be spoofed via the shared crypto keys). The only thing could be is bios level infection but the lappy has never left my presence and all bios updates were downloaded from ASUS.

Thus, just in case it's some weird rootkit I would like to scan it with multiple engines via boot USB scanner.

Yes, there are several USB boot scanners besides ESET. Some of them are Kaspersky Rescue Disk, Bitdefender Rescue CD, and Avira Rescue System. As for the multi-scanner tool, you might be referring to something like Hiren's BootCD PE. It's a comprehensive tool that includes various utilities, including malware scanners. However, it's always important to ensure you're downloading these tools from their official sources to avoid any potential security risks.

When you need these to work the most, that is when they shall fail you. They are notorious for not working. Full of bugs and just plain bad design.

Best to just clean install Windows.

If you think you are infected and doesn't want to clean install (which would be my preferred route) than it would better to create a thread in malware removal section and let an actual expert confirm it.

If you don't want to do that either than you can try these scanners. These standalone unlike Hiren.

Is the cursor acting strangely? Open the Windows Device Manager and switch the mouse driver to the default Windows driver. See if it fixes the problem.

Unhackme Warrior ISO with networking enabled. It will VT your whole system and also you can manually inspect all elements of your system. That's as deep as your gonna get in PE mode.

Might as well it wouldn't hurt. I will most likely go nuke and pave method but if it is indeed a stealthy bastard then I would love to let the community participate in the hunt. We are hunting Manbearpig the most dangerous game!

I never had a mouse drive me anywhere but hey these are new times so I give anything a chance. BTW THANKS. Will try that since honestly it even occurs when no network connection with wifi disabled and ethernet physically disconnected so unless the ethernet port can air gap then we are in bigger trouble then I think. Hence I think it's something wonky dory in this aging piece of ASUS laptop. IT was one of those 1.5lb lappys that MS Store sold back in2016

Hell yeaz that's cool! Thank god the system only contains a clone of Hunter Biden's laptop so I don't mind having the files shared with the cloud.

What issues are you encountering? Maybe use a tool like HDSentinel to check the disk.

The mouse pointer will suddenly go from the center of the screen to the bottom left and programs pinned to the taskbar will open, sometimes one sometimes two. And it's not a smooth movement it's more like snap to corner always bottom left.

Try the solution I mentioned in post 5 to see if it resolves the problem. It's possible that the problem stems from a few malfunctioning keys. Download SharpKeys and extract the files. Open SharpKeys. Click on "add" and then choose "type key" from the "map this key" selection. If the "type key" window includes a key, it suggests that the key is functioning automatically, which might be the source of the problem. You can decide whether to remap this key to another key or disable it. Repeat these steps to check if more keys are malfunctioning.

In the end it's 99.999% a broken touchpad since the behavior was replicated in KAV PE USB boot and Kali Linux USB boot.

Kav PE USB boot dint find anything.

Side note anyone has any soft skills in Cucumber?

Further steps to verify the problem:

Disable touchpad temporarily: Use an external mouse to see if the issue persists

Adjust touchpad settings: Check for any settings that might be causing problems.

Check for updates: Ensure your operating system and touchpad drivers are up-to-date.
