Microsoft has just released the March 2025 optional updates for Windows 11 version 23H2 and the Enterprise and Education Editions of the version 22H2 of the OS. While this month’s optional update for Windows 11 version 24H2 isn’t live yet, the optional patch for Windows 10 version 22H2 is also available.
Here are the main changes that will roll out gradually to Windows 11 version 23H2 and 22H2 with today’s

File Explorer accessibility: Text scaling now applies to more areas of File Explorer, including the File Open/Save dialogs and copy dialogs.
Settings app: In Settings > System > About, new “Top cards” show key details about a PC’s processor, RAM, storage, and GPU. On managed PCs, a new home page will show some existing cards like “Recommended settings” and “Bluetooth devices” as well as two new enterprise-specific device info and accessibility preferences cards.
Gamepad keyboard layout for the touch keyboard: The new Gamepad keyboard layout for the Windows 11 touch keyboard now makes it easy to type using an Xbox controller.
Emoji icon in the taskbar: A new emoji icon in the system tray area of the taskbar provides quick access to the emoji panel.
Task Manager: The app now uses standard metrics to display CPU workload consistently across all pages and align with industry standards and third-party tools.
Voice Access: Users with Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs can now speak commands using natural language, including filler words and synonyms.
For Windows 10 users, today’s
KB5053643 optional patch fixes an issue causing thumbnails in File Explorer to crash, resulting in white pages appearing instead of the actual thumbnail. Microsoft also addressed another bug affecting USB-connected dual-mode printers that support both US Print and IPP Over USB protocols causing them to unexpectedly output incorrect or unwanted text.
