On security forums the "less is more" is not a security position presented often; the exact opposite prevails. "Use this and that" is popular because of the hobbyist and enthusiast aspect, when people really do not need 99% of what they use. Microsoft holds the world hostage so much - mainly by Office/365. Oh. One can switch to an alternative and make due best they can, until they get tired of the quirks of converting from Word .doc or docx or Execle . xsl or .xslx to whatever they are using. Only to be faced with hours of additional work due to messed-up conversion. If it were not for Office/365, global Linux users would be more than 1 to 3%. Windows 11 will be fine until Microsoft wipes it off the map and that € 2,700 laptop is now the equivalent of a paperweight because the next iteration of Windows won't run on it. I have to admit that the upgrade from 10 to 11 has been trouble free whereas the upgrade from 8.1 to 10 burnt one system. That system could not be resurrected. I attribute most of my luck to not installing Preview Updates, which is not the way here amongst the security and play-with-software minions. They cannot control themselves and therefore get themselves into trouble and then point the finger at Microsoft. Another thing is that their systems are full of 3rd party software, which is not good and it is inevitable that Windows major updates will go wrong. Again they point the finger at Microsoft. News flash. Microsoft, Linux, and any other OS publisher do not guarantee a smooth update or upgrade experiences when the user has a ton of software installed and/or they have a habit of installing/uninstalling software, nor when they have not maintained their current OS and it is 5+ years old with all the dirt that they've put onto it. Microsoft itself disavows all responsiblity when people turn their systems into a filthy, dirty, problem-ridden animal farm full of software. Most update problems are caused by the user and not Microsoft, especially playing with Windows drives and partitions.
