The roadmap shows a Windows 8 beta arriving in time for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, with a final release set for August 2012. A Windows 8 Release Candidate (RC), generally considered the last pre-release version of an OS, should be available sometime between next January and late summer 2012.

If the report is to be true, we should have a Windows 9 Release Candidate by the middle of the year in 2014 and a commercial release in the fall.

Yea, im interested to see the new features they brought and how good it will actually be. Im also wondering what they can bring to windows 9 two years after, must not be that much if its only 2 years

Yeah, probably it will only be GUI changes and maybe only patches and fixes.

The new Metro GUI is pretty good for tablets, but not the best for normall PCs.

Yeah, it looks more innovated for touch screens which could be a problem for a lot of people since not everyone can afford them or has them. Im sure it would still work with a mouse but it looks oriented for touch. They should have made two versions one touch oriented (for tablets.. etc) and one for mouse (desktops)

Still 50/50 of going to get this on launch, but my question is (with it being geared towards the tablets) if I bought a touchscreen laptop now with Windows 7 loaded on it then I assume it's all set to go for upgrade to Windows 8? ReasonI say it like this is because I assume the prices won't be too kind on new OS launch with Windows 8 bundled in? And also I could get the upgrade through family via the student route so very cheap :D

With regards to the 2 year cycle, I think that's far too close as nobody wants to be forking out that kinda money for a new OS too close together especially when most get 3 years out of their desktop/laptop so would not make sense surely??

That's interesting, its like Microsoft were pretty busy in upcoming Windows 8 then another version to be arrived in 2014 I bet it would be pretty same interface like Windows 8.

I'm not that happy with the fast release of new Operating Systems by Microsoft since Licenses are pretty much expensive.

Yea, thats about 150 - 300 per computer, which can get costly if you have a lot of computers

And this how a chance people would do a plan just to make another pirated OS especially like upcoming OS.

Windows is the OS of the most common today.
We can do anything in windows.
Example: if in the MAC, we need bootcamp to play PC games in the MAC. hassle, and many step
there is a way for it, if you want to know.

I am guessing bootcamp is something that puts Windows on a Mac?
