Advice Request Windows Defender Web protection?

Under the Firewall & network protection -> Settings -> Security Providers , there exists “Web protection”. for me at least this has not been set.

The name suggests web filtering but tbh I don’t know what it is.

Does someone know more about it and how it can be turned on ?

Ah, thanks for the clue. Following the above link, you can enable network protection via group policy. Set to "block." Done. :emoji_ok_hand:

In case you have a command prompt in the start menu, you can go to settings to change it to powershell.

Thanks ! I have all these turned on via GPO, the item shows but unlike the AV and the Firewall , I don’t see below it something like “windows web protection is turned on” , do you see this sort of note below the item ?

Btw Network protection works when visiting the test site by MS from demo.wd.microsoft.com

I'm not on the 17704 build so the security providers page doesn't exist for me.

It could be reserved for third-party AVs and their web protection modules.

You can also control this setting by means of @Andy Ful's ConfigureDefender, in case you don't want to get your hands dirty with Powershell or GPO. There is a button by which you can simply turn it on or off, at will.
