Windows Explorer & Folder Improvements
Two of my favorite things to do after installing Windows 7 is to modify the tool bar and shortcut related options for improved looks and definitely improved functionality, the following two links detail tis procedure very well. Additionally I found a tiny app that for me is an absolute must have, details below.

Also what some may like and what I have found extremely useful as I keep specific folders open at all times is the ability to save their positions and layouts as well as open them quickly all at once and have them return to the same position everytime, also desktop icon management and placement options are an included and desirable option.

I am also including additional links to create very useful shortcuts when you right-click your desktop, all of the above and these to me greatly improve the functionality of your Operating System.

I've seen no issues from any of these but as usual always backup before you tweak (or break in some cases) your system.
EDIT: Added some additional information.
