Does using WIndows SmartScreen make VoodooShield superfluous? And what if UAC is set at highest level? Does that make Voodoo superfluous?

You have mentioned windows smart screen in the topic. And you have asked different question. Please edit the title and rename to a appropriate one.
  1. No SmartScreen doesnt have anything to do with Voodoo Sheild. SmartScreen is part of Internet Explorer 8 and above, it's now integrated into the operating system. SmartScreen is a useful security feature that will help prevent bad applications from running, but it may occasionally prevent a legitimate application from running.
  2. If UAC is at the highest level you will be frequently asked to run application or modify changes in your system which are specifically not trusted by your OS.

thanks.
I couldn't figure out how to edit the title, but I added a bit of explanation to the body of the question, to show its connection to the title.

You can edit your title by following the attachment.

okay, thanks, but what about my actual question?
If I am already using these native WIndows security tools, does VoodooShield add any protection?

Yes It does forms an additional advanced layer of security for your PC. For your reference you can read a complete review given by PC Mag:

Voodoshield based on other testimonies may act like UAC but the concept is simple enough since it gathers numerous engine to detect any malicious programs to be blocked and accepts those trusted programs on whitelist.

Voodoo WILL replace UAC. since VS concept is to be stronger than UAC.

thanks for the helpful info.
what do you guys say about Voodoo free edition?
Is it worth running?
I am more concerned about computer responsiveness than about absolute total security, as I anyways make regular system images that are easy enough to restore.

My present security setup is webroot secureanywhere + MB anti-exploit + MBAM free (I run it if I was doing a lot of stuff on the internet or trying out programs)

It ads about 0.01 load if you have a decent machine so don't worry. It's light.

@shmu26 You can share your security setup at Security Configuration Wizard. Remember to use your preferred username in the title to avoid confusion and fill in all required fields. If you wish to improve your security, your security config. thread will provide better feedback.

In my opinion, I would not disable UAC. I would keep UAC enabled at default or higher (more prompts), and optionally use software such as Crystal Security (Crystal Security) - you can ask @Kardo Kristal for any questions, or see here Crystal Security 3.5

that crystal security is good stuff! It really keeps me out of trouble without slowing down the computer or even costing anything.
