The 10-year-old operating system saw its market share drop in February but it still commands a leading 45 percent.

Haven't seen a home user with a XP OS for a long time...... Wonder if the 45 percent is mostly due to the companies......

It's me. :p My father's PC is a bit old, it only supports XP and Vista (BIOS upgrade required to install Vista but battery no longer works, so I can't upgrade the BIOS). I am planning to install Linux on it, :D but he may take a lot of time to get used to it, as it takes time for everyone to get used to something he/she change.

I only see very few home users still running Windows XP, but you are right Jack. Here in the USA still the majority of companies, businesses, government and military still use Windows XP with McAfee for protection. Most will probably not upgrade until XP no longer can suite their requirements because it will cost consumers too much. McAfee gives many USA companies, businesses, government and military huge discounts that why they use their services.

Thanks.:D

- Then we can get an appointment at a bar or restaurant, Jack, if you want, because my too .. I'm Windows XP user and I do not want to change my beloved XP, sorry.;)

I wrote too, in 'Windows 8's new logo ..' topic: 'But I know that M$ thinks this: 'I want to cut off their supply of old Windows in stores, and provide what I want, that only this latest version (as I did with Vista and Windows7) while new customers will be FORCED to buy what I want.' - So you don't have the possibility to see Windows XP PCs in your store .. Lack of equal opportunity is not fair.

I run XP. :) I see no reason to change at the moment. Maybe when XP is no longer supported, but then I just may finally make the full-on switch to Linux. :p

Some users still run low end machines with old hardware, Nothing to do with they want to run XP, It's because they have no choice.

I'm sure many of them would love to upgrade to Windows 7 but aren't able to. So they either run XP or one of the hundred Linux/UNIX based OS's etc.

I can relate, 3 years is the last time I've come across a PC with XP. I often see Vista more then I do Windows 7. Weird eh.

At least people are updating, but with the way Windows 8 is shaping up to be, another Vista is on the hands, which will again make people reluctant to upgrade.

Well they will have to update once Microsoft cuts support to Windows XP, when they do it, will be good to see the result 6 months after they do, to see what is the most used operating system.

Well some of the users have no budget for upgrading in the latest version so its likely satisfied on what OS they using.
