Even though patching is a key part of our cyber hygiene, I've seen many Internet users ignore software updates because of several misconceptions. So I decided to try to shed some light on the matter by talking to over 15 cyber security specialists.

This is the result: 15+ Experts Explain Why Software Patching is Key for Your Online Security - Heimdal Security Blog. I really hope you'll find it useful and enjoy it. Any feedback is more than welcome, as the only thing that really matters (imho) is for all of us to enjoy a safer web.

Patching is key to security, since it often eliminates holes in the code, sometimes patches do break existing working code though, a few MS patches have shown that not to mention on of the Office Service Packs that broke the meeting alert feature.

Besides that, neither Heimdal nor Secunia work flawless, I found it better to frequently run my Ninite file and checking the rest manually, there isn't really a good automatic updater for third party software available at the moment.
Mind you, we had a few thousand laptops and PC's running on Heimdal pre 2016.

I completely agree that each user should find a way to manage updates according to his/her needs, as everyone tends to set up his/her digital environment in a personal way. The important thing we wanted to accomplish with this roundup is to draw attention to patching, as too many users tend to ignore it. I hope we've managed to accomplish this.
