What's new after 7-Zip 9.25 alpha:

- 7-Zip now can update WIM archives.
- 7-Zip File Manager now can move files to archives.
- The default encoding for TAR format now is UTF-8. You can use -mcp=1 switch for OEM encoding.
- Command line version:
- new "rn" command to rename files in archive.
- new -sdel switch to delete files after including to archive.
- new -sns switch to store NTFS alternate streams (for WIM format only).
- new -sni switch to store NT security information for files (for WIM format only).
- Speed optimizations for opening big archives and big disk folders.
- Some bugs were fixed.
- New localization: Aragonese.

Why don't they announce any new stable releases? v9.20 was from 2010.

Alpha does not mean the product is not stable. Just mean it is under development:P

What about the current Beta, still underdevelopment? Maybe in 5 years they'll announce a stable version.

Ayanami Alpha means under development and under development means it will have quirks and bugs. If it has no quirks and bugs and is mostly stable then it would have been realeased.
Earth at least in zip managers its Ok i the version is from 2010, but I know an AV, its called Escan and its last version was released in Nov. 2010.

It means they don't even feel the code is ready for a beta release. In other words, very likely not stable.

Well even though there are times it doesn't updated, 7-Zip remains to be simple and better extracted files function.
