Wow. Very impressed by Adguard stopping so many malicious and phishing links. But I wonder if just adding another list than an additional program to block them would have helped Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin?
I commented on his youtube channel
the tester didn't understand the difference between adguard and ublock origin
adguard uses google safebrowsing API, same as google chrome and firefox, but adguard and firefox have a slightly delayed database
it explains why adguard performed better than ublock in this test
uBO's default malware filters are rubbish and outdated

if users use google chrome or firefox or any browser which uses google safebrowsing, adguard becomes useless because they use the same thing

with uBO, you can add more filters to block malwares and it will perform much better than adguard

for adblock plus, you can't add many types of malware filters because it doesn't support hosts format. Only some adblock plus format filters

Adguard blocks more malware links than google safebrowsing, which blocks only like 1 of 10 compared to adguard. Google safebrowsing is rubbish.

no, I can prove the opposite
adguard uses google safebrowsing
adguard blocks faster than google
if you want to test them, disable GSB and test adguard, then disable adguard, and test GSB with the same links
the tester in that video didn't disable adguard to test GSB, how do you know if GSB is rubbish?
in fact, 1 link GSB blocked was the one adguard delayed database failed to block

I used the same method (different links though), and adguard is always the winner, maybe it depends, how old links are being tested.
quite new at that time 28/3/2017
that's why many of them failed to block
the links were taken from malc0de and phishtank (latest)
adguard also has malware domain list so it's supposed to have an extra database compared to GSB
if you disable all filters and just test the pure malware filter, GSB will block more than adguard, exact same links will be blocked

EDIT: I have some free time, I can make another test with 10 links from malc0de, 10 from vxvault, 10 verified phishtank and 10 unverified phishtank, 10 openshish if you want

I have just did a quick test, downloaded tons of malware in the process, still adguard blocked 5 of 5 and browser 0 if 5. Links (phishtank/malcode). P.S.: My filters.

I tested the same with google chrome 65 and it blocked 2/5, 1 link was dead

the weird thing is when I tested google chrome portable 64 (older) it blocked nothing although the protect was surely enabled
so chrome 65 > chrome 64, don't understand
2 minutes later, tested again with chrome 64, it blocked 2/5
firefox has a delayed database too, so 0/5 is expected

don't know why there is an inconsistency

ok, the conclusion, adguard has improved since the test I did last year. They surely added their own database besides GSB for the extension while adguard for windows still solely uses GSB

I added some filters to my uBO, it blocked everything
that's why I don't like adguard because I can't control what filters I want to add

Which filters? I abandoned uBlock, because it looked inferior in blocking malware.
some hphosts from malwarebytes (slightly delayed, update once per day)
http://hosts-file.net/emd.txt (for malwares)
http://hosts-file.net/exp.txt (exploits)
http://hosts-file.net/pup.txt (PUPs)

http://hosts-file.net/psh.txt (for phishing but I don't use it)

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts (for everything, malwares are not prioritized)

for ransomwares
https://ransomwaretracker.abuse.ch/downloads/RW_DOMBL.txt
https://ransomwaretracker.abuse.ch/downloads/RW_IPBL.txt
