Hi everybody! :)
This is my first post as i've just signed up.
Cutting to the chase, I've used ESS since v5 I believe, and I've had zero problems with it, as I consider myself an experienced computer user.
Still, last week i was checking some reports on AVComparatives and AV-test and decided to switch to Avira Free as it was topping the charts. By the way, are those reports trustworthy?
I found Avira's interface a bit bloated, especially with that launcher, and everybody in the house told me the laptop (2 GHz dual core/2 gb ram) seems a bit slower, without knowing I changed the av. I also noticed this when I saw the cpu usage was never getting below 4-5% with Avira, wich seems a bit off, so I switchef back to ESS.
Anyway, I'm waiting for any advices and tips :)

May want to consider enabling Windows update. At the very least, set it to pick and choose mode so that you can download the critical security patches. Also, consider backing up your PC. It's just not worth the hassle of something going wrong. Thanks for sharing your config. ;)

Noxx is right, I think MS is still releasing Security patches for Win7 ultimate, so maybe enable where you decide what gets downloaded.
As an experienced user I would have at least one anti exploit like MBAE or similar, the rest looks solid.
Welcome to MT make yourself at home. :)

If you can enable Updates and use MBAM for protection. Also using threat scan is more recommended then fast scan. I agree as well in adding Malwarebytes Anti Exploit.

Highly recommended if you have good enough storage or a handy external HDD where to conduct system image backup, which for a long run will be helpful when your computer is at unstable state.

Windows updates at least "Important" updates are necessary.
Consider some type of system back up solution.
Thanks for sharing your config :)

Thanks for the good advices!
Regarding to the updates, a few times ago, after installing multiple updates, I noticed my ram usage would go up to 80% shortly after startup because of svchost, and after many hours of digging the internet with zero results I took the matter into my own hands - I dig deep into svchost's processes and threads using Process Explorer (I'm sure all of you already use it; I can't recommend it highly enough) and discovered that it was caused by a windows update component. I'm planning a fresh Windows install from an integrated image, but until then I have to keep them disabled..
I already backup my important photos and files to 2 cloud storage providers manually and it suits me well. L
Thanks again, any advices still welcomed :)
