Adobe ditches its Inmarket and AIR Marketplace
Adobe will shut down its Inmarket and AIR Marketplace app stores at the end of August.
The firm has made the decision based on developer feedback. It will close both stores on 31 August and will not be accepting any new applications to either store from now on.
Adobe said, "After reviewing our efforts and based on feedback from developers, we have decided that we will deliver the most value by helping developers author and publish their apps on multiple platforms. Given this focus, we have decided to discontinue development and support of Adobe InMarket."
Three years after establishing the AIR Marketplace, Adobe said, "After careful consideration, Adobe has decided to discontinue development and support of Adobe AIR Marketplace."
The consumer focused AIR Marketplace is home to apps such as Tweetdeck and Accuweather. Any applications downloaded from the store from now until closure will be unaffected.
The company will now focus on aiding developers to publish and advertise their applications on other platforms such as Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market.
