In 2023, Microsoft decided to discontinue its Microsoft-branded keyboards and mice to shift its main focus to Surface-branded accessories. Just a few months later, those keyboards and mice are making a sudden comeback, this time under a new brand thanks to a partnership with Incase.

Onward Brands (the parent company for Incipio, Incase, Griffin, and Survivor) will carry the torch of manufacturing what used to be Microsoft keyboards, mice, webcams, headsets, and speakers. Incase will use the same components, manufacturing, and supply chains, which means you can expect the same accessories with the same performance, materials, and looks, only with a new logo.

You can check out the complete list of 23 accessories with a new leaf-looking logo on the official Incase website. You will find there a lot of familiar devices, such as the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard, Designer Compact Keyboard, Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse, Audio Dock, Modern Webcam, and even the small Bluetooth Number Pad.

Besides slapping a new logo onto existing peripherals, Incase will continue developing devices conceived but not finished in Microsoft labs. Onward Brands' CEO, Charlie Tebele, told The Verge that the company is working with Microsoft on a new ergonomic keyboard and more. There are no specific details about the partnership terms, but Microsoft will retain design ownership.

Incase pushes back plans to relaunch Microsoft-designed keyboards and more to Q4 2024
In January 2024, Incase, a division of Onward Brands, announced it had made an agreement with Microsoft to relaunch many of the products that Microsoft had made for its PC accessory lineup. This was met with positive vibes from fans of those accessory products, such as its ergonomic keyboards, its PC mice, and more. Microsoft decided in 2023 to discontinue most of its accessory products lineup in 2023.

Incase previously stated the relaunch would begin in the second quarter of 2024. However, that timeframe came and went with no such launch, nor any word from Incase. However, the company finally, and somewhat quietly, sent out a press release late last week, stating the Microsoft accessory product lineup is now due for launch sometime in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Incase Launches New Compact Ergonomic Keyboard With Copilot Key
Incase, the design brand now selling PC accessories designed by Microsoft has just announced a new Compact Ergonomic Keyboard. This new keyboard looks quite similar to the now-discontinued Surface Ergonomic Keyboard from Microsoft, except that it doesn’t have a keypad. However, it does come with the new Copilot key that Microsoft introduced last year ahead of CES.

As of today, Microsoft is still selling a couple of Surface-branded PC accessories such as the 2nd Edition Surface Keyboard and the Surface Arc Mouse. However, the company has now discontinued its Microsoft-branded PC accessories. Incase now has a license to sell a collection of keyboards, mice, and headsets designed by Microsoft, and this new Compact Ergonomic Keyboard will be sold alongside the Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard and other models.

“The Compact Ergonomic Keyboard was designed to take up the smallest possible amount of space while maintaining typing accuracy, comfort and a high-level of performance,” said Marshall Clark, Onward General Manager. “We are extremely proud to debut the most innovative and comfortable keyboard for work, play and learning.”

This new Compact Ergonomic Keyboard features a split design with a contoured layout and a cushioned palm rest. It also has full-size scissor keys with 1.3mm travel, and it can connect to up to three devices via Bluetooth 5.1. Other highlights include quick access to emojis, a call-mute button, and up to 36 months of battery life with the included AAA batteries.

This new Incase Compact Ergonomic Keyboard will be available in early 2025 for $119.99 on Incase’s website. It’s also coming soon to Amazon and Best Buy alongside other Incase PC peripherals.
