That is a great question. I don't know myself, just that I use AdwC. as a standalone b/c it's so tiny and specialized. So, I found this, maybe it answers somewhat? It's from two years ago but it's maybe still true today.
If not, maybe someone can add on.

Is AdwCleaner integrated into Malwarebytes ?

I currently run MalwareBytes Premium 3.4.5.2467 on my Windows 10 laptop. Love it. No issues at all. Did I need to run AdwCleaner or is it now part of all the thing MalwareBytes Premium 3.4.5.2467 does ?

i have malwarebytes paid, and AdwCleaner does `detect' things malwarebytes never mentions. usually some registry key or a pup. this is rare though.

I used it to clean out some manufacturer-installed junk (Amazon toolbar for the never-used IE ). Now it always wants to delete Acer pre-installed apps, though I just leave them be.
