AFP Virus Help

Had AFP and used hitman pro unsuccessful.
Got into safe mode and ran malwarebytes, that picked up an issue which has been deleted, but screen is really bad and I couldnt read what it was. Cant do alot because difficulty in reading screen its like psychedlic colours and I cannot get windows to load normally now.
Distressed. Any assistance appreciated. Sorry havent run the log thing as I cannot with the computer the way it is.

Before we start:
Please be aware that removing malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

Please try to restart the computer. When you try to restart the computer what's happening? Is it going back to safe mode again?

When I start the computer up it is like it has gone psychedelic to the extreme. I can make out logos on the desktop because I know what they are, someone else wouldnt be able to, difficult to see any small writing and can only make out some words. Can see bigger writing okay..I dont know whether its safe mode, I dont think it is. So the biggest problem might be following some instructions because of the inability to see. It might be that I clicked something I shouldnt have I dont know. Malwarebyte does not detect any maleware since it picked up one and removed and since the apf screen isnt coming up again im guessing it got that? Thank you. kuttus.

Kaya, is it possible for you to send me the Screenshots of what you can see on the computer? I think this issue is some thing with computer resolution.......


To Take Screen Of Your Screen.

1. Press PRINT SCREEN (Print Scr) key on Your Keyboard.
2. Now Open MS Paint
3. Open Paint by clicking the Start button
   
   , clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking Paint.
4. In MS Paint Click Edit, and then click Paste.
5. After this Save the File on your computer by Clicking on File --> Save

Add this Saved File in your next Replay

Yes you are close Kuttus. Took the monitor from the computer I was using and put on the other one and fired up aokay. I didnt think of that at first, didnt expect to have a virus and in the process of eliminating that, that the monitor would decide its a perfect time to die. My guess was it was happening due to the virus. Thank you for your assistance. Malwarebytes had actually cleared the virus okay. All the best to you.

Double click on OTL to run it

• Click on the Cleanup button at the top.
• You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. Choose Yes
• This will remove itself and other tools we may have used.

Now that your PC is clean, I recommend you to create a new System Restore point then purge the old ones after.

For XP
How to create a Restore Point in XP
Delete all restore points except the most recent one

For Vista
Create a restore point
Delete all but the most recent restore point

For Windows 7
Create a restore point
Delete all but the most recent restore point - Click the Delete all but the most recent restore point link

I also recommend you to switch your antivirus program to a better one. Here are some suggestions:

• avast! 7 Home Edition - Don't use it with Online Armor
• Avira AntiVir Personal
• Microsoft Security Essentials

In addition to your antivirus, you need additional protection such as a firewall and behavioural blocker.

• Comodo Firewall - If you are an advance user

Internet Explorer may be the most popular browser but it's definitely not the most secure browser. Consider using other browsers with addition add-ons to safeguard your system while browsing the internet.

Firefox is a more secure, faster browser than Internet Explorer. Firefox contains less vulnerabilities, reducing the risk of drive-by downloads. In addition, you can add the following add-ons to increase security.

• KeyScramber - Encrypts your keystrokes to protect you against keyloggers that steals personal & banking information
• AdBlock - Disable/blocks advertisements on websites so you won't accidentally click on a malicious ad.
• NoScript - Disables Flash & Java contents to avoid exploits or drive-by attacks
• Web of Trust - Shows the website rating by other users and blocks dangerous and poor-rated sites

Google Chrome is another good browser that is faster and more secure than Internet Explorer by having a sandbox feature. Additionally, you can add the following add-on to Chrome to heighten security.
