I have a paid zemana anti-logger licence and im wondering if i should use it instead of UAC? UAC is annoying and sometimes slow when trying to run certain programs, im looking for a software that will alert me when a program tries to make changes to my computer, i know zemana anti-logger does but are there any better ones? that isnt spyshelter because it has too many pop-ups

To be honest, there is nothing that can fully take the place of UAC. Now adding that along side it, would surely bolster the security some ;) :)

I agree. It might seem like a pain sometimes but after you used it for a while it just becomes second nature. The little inconvenience caused by the pop ups is worth the protection UAC provides

I too agree. What's the difference between some HIPS/firewall program asking about system activity and UAC asking about it? For you, both will require a click to confirm, but UAC is built into the system and therefore cannot be replaced. The best thing would be to add on top of it, but then you'd have two confirmations to make, so maybe it's better to just stick to UAC.

What OS are you currently using?

The risks you encourage by disabling UAC:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-are-user-account-control-settings

If you decide to disable UAC in Windows 8, be aware that Microsoft has a kill-switch for Store apps. So, you won't be able to use Metro apps.

But.. there is a registry hack + tweaks to bypass this, however UAC will only be semi-disabled.

If you wish to alter UAC:
TweakUAC > http://www.winability.com/tweak-uac/
For Windows Vista / 7 / 8 and 32-bit and 64-bit
Use Majorgeeks to bypass mailing list > http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/tweakuac.html

Alternatively:
UAC Tweak > http://www.askvg.com/uac-tweak-a-sm...ak-uac-user-account-control-in-windows-vista/
For Windows Vista / 7

Have fun picking!

Martiin- Zemana is in no way a substitute for UAC. If you have a VM setup for testing, let us know and I can post a test file that will make this point quite clearly.
