In a post on X (formerly Twitter), GrapheneOS has made its position on age verification laws clear; it won't comply, regardless of where the demand comes from.

The team goes on to state that its OS and services will remain available worldwide, with no personal information, identification, or account ever required. And if that means its devices can't be sold in certain regions, then the project is fine with that outcome.

GrapheneOS is standing as the last bastion of technical integrity. While most of the industry kneels before state demands disguised as "protection," they are choosing digital exile over compromising the core of their code in the name of surveillance.

It’s an uncomfortable but necessary reminder: privacy isn't just a toggle in the settings menu; it’s a principled stance. In an ecosystem where almost every project eventually trades its soul for a bit of market share, seeing someone prioritize user sovereignty over regional sales isn't marketing—it’s the absolute minimum bar we should be demanding. 🛡️🚫📱

Here we go again. This never ends well for anyone using these devices. If enough criminals use then it will pwned and the few who use it for privacy lose too.

Sure, you don't have to comply but when sanctions, law enforcement or governments come calling there will be trouble.

Haven’t been here in a while. I logged in just to give this a thumbs up.
Soon they’ll be strapping us into gadgets fitted with AI monitors to make sure we don’t accidentally hurt ourselves.
Naturally, it’ll all be for our own safety.
And if we try to take them off, they’ll shock us and call the police.
What a wonderful world the 22nd century has in store for us. :D
