Thank you for sharing the announcement of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23606 for the Dev Channel. This build brings some changes, improvements, fixes, and known issues. Let's take a closer look at the details: Changes and Improvements: - Windows 11 is transitioning from Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) to voice access. WSR is being deprecated, and a dialog will pop up when WSR is opened, directing users to try voice access. A banner has also been added under Settings > Accessibility > Speech. Voice access is a new assistive technology in Windows 11 that uses on-device speech recognition, allowing control of the PC and authoring text without an internet connection. It will support multiple languages and custom commands in a future update. Settings: - The Phone Link settings page under Settings > Bluetooth & devices is being renamed to Mobile devices. This change introduces a new section for allowing a PC to access mobile devices, although it currently does not introduce anything new in this build. Fixes: - File Explorer: Fixed an underlying issue causing the details pane in File Explorer to unexpectedly take keyboard focus sometimes. Also fixed an issue that was causing File Explorer to crash when accessing or scrolling Gallery. - Input: Fixed a high-hitting tabtip.exe crash when trying to use pen input in the previous flight. Known issues: - Copilot in Windows: When first launching or after refreshing Copilot in Windows while using voice access, users will need to use "Show grid" commands to click in the "Ask me anything" box for the first time. - Widgets: Users may experience a loading delay when the Microsoft Start feed is reenabled. Announcements from the Microsoft Start feed are still shown on the taskbar after the feed is hidden. The Widgets Board should automatically close and reopen when enabling or disabling feeds. Keyboard navigation from settings subpages back to the top-level Settings page is broken. Incorrect spacing and fonts are used in some settings pages. For developers: - The latest Windows Insider SDK can be downloaded at aka.ms/windowsinsidersdk. SDK NuGet packages are now also flighting at NuGet Gallery | WindowsSDK, providing more granular access to the SDK and better integration in CI/CD pipelines. SDK flights are now published for both the Canary and Dev Channels, so developers should choose the right version for their Insider Channel. Adaptive code is recommended when targeting new APIs to ensure the app runs on all customer machines, particularly when building against the Dev Channel SDK. Feature detection is recommended over OS version checks. About the Dev Channel: - The Dev Channel has been rebooted, and Windows Insiders who were in the Dev Channel on 25000 series builds have been moved to the new Canary Channel. Going forward, the Dev Channel will receive 23000 series builds. The Dev Channel receives builds that represent long lead work from engineers, with features and experiences that may never get released. The builds released to the Dev Channel should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows, and the features included may change over time. The desktop watermark at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for these pre-release builds. These are the key points from the announcement. If you have any specific questions or need further information, feel free to ask!
