Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

my internet browser is deathly slow and stops responding then loads a little then stops responding once again. even a simple Google window takes 15 to 20 seconds to load. as for navigating around the actual computer seems much happier.

Try to restart your PC, see if this helps. I spotted several infection on your PC, we'll have more work to do:

TDSSKiller_Kaspersky.png
Scan with TDSSKiller

Please download TDSSKiller by Kaspersky and save it to your desktop.

  • Right-click on
    TDSSKiller_Kaspersky.png
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Click on Change parameters and put a checkmark beside Loaded modules. A reboot will be needed to apply the changes, allow it to do so.
  • Your machine may appear very slow and unusable after that - it's normal.
  • TDSSKiller will run automaticaly. Click on Change parameters and click OK.
  • Click the Start Scan button and wait patiently.

If anything will be found follow this guidelines:
  • If a suspicious object is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead.
  • Do not choose Delete unless instructed!

A report will be created in your root directory, (usually C:\ drive) in the form of TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt. Please include the contents of that file in your next post.

I rebooted and tried the internet once more. it is still super slow. I checked the wireless connection speed and I am only connecting at 144.4mbs. I have a 1 gig service.
strangely, I have a second laptop computer I have been using to do this repair and it is only connecting at 65.0mbs but it is like lightning next to the repaired one.
I really appreciate your time in helping me out.
thank you,
Todd

Very good. Don't worry, we're going to fix everything :)

Multiple Resident Protection warning!

Always have one (and no more than one!) AntiVirus program! In this case having more of them will not provide you with better protection - instead they may cause slowness, lock-ups and even mark another ones as harmful, leading to leave your system unstable and even damaged. Please choose only one from the listed below to stay with and uninstall the others:
  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • Norton 360

Uninstallation procedure:
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
  • Search for each uninstalled entry, right-click it and select Uninstall.
This should be done until any other steps will be taken.

hello,
I tried three different ways to uninstall Norton 360. each time it would come to the uninstall page, I would click uninstall and the window would close with no other actions. Microsoft security essentials is the one I would like to keep.
I could not find either of the other two programs in the uninstall/remove programs page.
the three logs you asked for are attached.
thank you
internet is still too slow to even use.

the link worked perfectly to remove Norton's. thank you. internet is still slow. is there maybe a setting that is causing the problem? I tried to connect it directly to the router via cat 5 cable and the computer would still try to connect to the wireless that was disconnected.
here are the logs you requested.

Yes, the wired internet works now. It says it is connected at 1gig but is equally as slow as the wireless connection. In the past, this computer was relatively fast on the wired connection.

I down loaded the program and ran it. there is still no difference. I have not rebooted the router as the two other computers I have are working perfectly. when the cranky computer is trying to open a webpage and it constantly goes between a pop up at the bottom saying there is a long running script and up at the top in parenthesis it says Microsoft not responding.
maybe it is time to fix it with a sledge hammer.
I appreciate all of your help.

What browser are you using when this happens? Did you try another?

I do not know, people donate amount they can and what they think is good.
