Anti-Phishing Certification Test 2020
Every year we publish the results of our phishing protection test. These tests evaluate the protection provided against phishing websites. These deceptive websites can pose a real threat to Internet users, as they attempt to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details.

Test Procedure
In our test scenario, we simulate the common situation where users rely on the anti-phishing protection provided by their security products while browsing the web (and/or checking their webmail accounts; anti-spam features are not considered, as they are not within the scope of this test).

Testcases
The test took place between the 23rd June and 9th July 2020. 505 Phishing URLs were tested as soon as we discovered them. All phishing URLs had to be active/online at time of testing and attempt to get personal information. The phishing campaigns targeted various types of personal data, including login credentials etc. for PayPal, online banking & credit cards, e-mail accounts, Dropbox, eBay, social networks, online games and other online services. The set of legitimate online banking websites for the false alarm test consisted of 500 clean URLs (all of them using HTTPS and showing a login form) from all over the world.

The results:
Avast Free Antivirus: 86% and no false alarms
AVG Free Antivirus: 86% and no false alarms
Avira Antivirus Pro: 91% and no false alarms
Bitdefender Internet Security: 94% and no false alarms
Kaspersky Internet Security: 90% and no false alarms
Trend Micro Internet Security: 95% and no false alarms

Trend Micro very exemplary...focus on security (without bloat in the products) and thats the good result

TM strong points are malware URL/phishing blocking and its BB. Their banking protection is average, in 2021 beta, you can add your own banking sites to the list(wow ). Then when you open up, for example, ebay.com, it opens "secure browser" automagically(wow ). If you lookup latest mrg-effitas banking test, TM was the worst. Performance wise the beta 2021 is way faster than 2020. I really hope that they improve their banking protection and their static detection. TM too much rely on their AI/HEUR/BB detections. Actually only reason i'm using it, it's strong BB(and got the license cheap from Al / @SerialCart).

Just as a note for those who are interested in Trend Micro. Trend Micro changed the licensing system and now they are country restricted (not even region restricted).

Therefore, very soon we will not be offering Trend Micro anymore.

Why doesn't they test SmartScreen?

Yes, you're right. Trend Micro strongly relies it's cloud.That's why it does not receive frequent signature updates(those are for offline detection purposes).TM relying heavily on its cloud and Aegis behavioural monitor, heuristics and reputation.
