My wife's MBA (4G, 128SSD)is lagging after upgrading to macOS High Serria. I searched over the web and found out CleanMyMac It seems pretty decent but the price is too high. Any cheaper or free alternatives available?

I don't know what your budget is ,but you can get to know the Tunesbro CleanGeeker , which is a new software that is cheaper than CleanMyMac .

After some reading on your issue it appears to be common when upgrading the OS on older machines. I would add at least 2 GB memory. Here is a good source for free software, good luck.
