BBC News said:
Shares in technology giant Apple have fallen by more than 3% in early trading after reports suggested orders for its iPhone 5 had been lower than expected.

Apple is reported to have halved its orders for the display panel featured on the phone for the January to March quarter, according to the Nikkei Japanese news service.

The reports have heightened fears that demand for Apple's iPhones has fallen in the wake of increased competition.

The iPhone 5 came out in September.

Jefferies analyst Peter Misek trimmed his iPhone shipment estimates for the January to March quarter in December, saying that the technology company had started cutting orders to suppliers to balance excess supplies.

There are fears that Apple is struggling to compete with Asian rivals, including South Korean based firm Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has already overtaken Apple as the world's largest smartphone vendor by market share.

Until Apple lightens up some of the restrictions on their OS and does something more than make the screen a little bigger and move the headphone jack they will continue to fall. How does Apple compete with a monster phone like the Galaxy Note 2 or the S3.It appeals to many more customers in the workplace as well as home users. It runs anything regardless of whether there is a wifi connection or not,has a Micro SD Card slot and doesnt require the use of iTunes to manage the device.

S3 - Main Screen Size12.2 cm (4.8")
iPhone 5 - Main Screen Size10.2 cm (4")

not that much you might say? I own an S3 and not by my hand an iPhone5 (thanks to work and thankfully only a loaner) so I can compare!! so when you say Apple v Samsung it is easy IMO to distinguish the market share leader is rightly Samsung..and as exterminator20 points out
you don't need iTunes :boulay: to manage your device
