I find continuous backup's just not worth the time, important data is stored in the clould anyways and browser data is stored through sync. All you need to do is install your programs. It might have something to do with disk writes as well, back in the day it was all about minimizing disk writes and I remember having a 60GB SSD and it was all about improving the lifespan, its something that has stuck with me I guess.
