No, I'm not using Windows Defender. My policy has been to avoid real-time scanners in favor of an anti-executable with light virtualization. I just don't see the need to incur occasional slowdowns for a minimal security boost, especially since frequent use of on-demand scanners should cover that base.

On that note, I have added Emsisoft Emergency Kit to pair with Zemana AntiMalware, both on my USB.

Nothing to add, nice configuration.
I personally use Windows Defender+Voodooshield and I find very little slowdowns related to WD. However VS solo will also work fine.
