Advice Request AV web shield while using VPN???

Does using a anti virus web shield make a VPN worthless? The privacy statements from AV companies are convoluted legalese and not much help. I don't know what's stopping the AV company from recording all internet activity.

If you don't trust your av then remove it or use an av with good privacy(smth like F-secure)!even if you disable the web protection the av can access the cookies or browser history because they are saved on hard disk .av can access the whole harddisk anyway I will not disable the web protection!not worth it!

I would never disable my AV-Firewall, not for any reason
