New version of AVAST Antivirus (build number 12.1.2272), called NITRO Update.
It's for these products: Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier.
This update is focused on improving the performance and detection capabilities. We also stopped using the year in product name, as we will be releasing new versions in monthly cycles from now.
We also removed some features that might have been causing problems or not being used by many users in order to make Avast faster and lighter.

What's new:
+ Lower system impact - faster boot time, less space taken on disk
+ CyberCapture - better detection of unknown and unique files via our cloud technology
+ Regular monthly program updates - automatic and silent, configurable via Settings
+ Improved detection of router vulnerabilities
+ New Bank mode in SafeZone browser
+ Faster SecureLine connection
+ Antispam is now as opt-in component
- Removed hardware virtualization (NG) - replaced with CyberCapture, that has much lower impact on system resources
- Removed Remote assistance - not used enough and not a core functionality

How to install:
1. Update from existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program
2. Or you can download and install from here:

CyberCapture - better detection of unknown and unique files via our cloud technology
better,better........:D
For me, I don't rely on technology to prevent threats from accessing my PC. That said, it's good that people are around to test these new technologies. ;)

CyberCapture - Stay one step ahead of evolving cyber threats. This proprietary cutting-edge technology captures unknown files and sends them to the Avast Threat Labs for real-time analysis to keep you safe.

Does this means whole unknown file/program will be sent to Avast for analysis? Wouldn't it affect users bandwidth?

And on what basis CyberCapture will treat a file/program as unknown?

And are the ads still there in free version?

And additional softs still there in the installer?

CyberCapture works like this...

If Avast finds an unknown file, it doesn't allow it to run and checks the file. The file is checked on Avast own servers

Screenshot

It normally will tell you how long it will take for the file to be analyzed (unlocked to be run).

However, you do have the option to run the file which is not recommended before the CyberCapture procedure happens.

That is how the file will marked clean or not as far as I know.

That being said, it is a fairly new technology of Avast and only time will tell how effective it is against malware.

Well,

CyberCapture is basically an inverted Secure Virtual Machine. It does same or even extended analysis, but on avast! servers. This frees up client systems from the burden of demanding VM client running in the background, resolves all the compatibility issues because it's not fully under avast! staff control and not on client systems.

There is more to it for sure but Avast haven't given any more technical information on it yet.

You can try it yourself - CyberCapture works on low prevalent files downloaded from web and then executed.

Regarding the Chrome installation, normally after the update restart, an Avast screen pops up and has Chrome pption to install as opt-out - it's easy to miss.

All CyberCapture analysis on cloud.. then what about offline protection? while offline, we just got signatures.. This is bad.

Since Avast has a lot of users running online, it will be able to receive unknown files faster and I believe there will be a way the results on the analysis being forwarded to offline users via some whitelist.

However, if a user is offline, it will be very rare for them to get the unknown files.

So the file is uploaded to Avast servers i.e if a file is 15 MB then the 15 MB file is uploaded to Avast servers?

That's a tricky question lol, I'll need to ask an Avast dev that.

I know for sure it depends on some factors such as low prevalent files (obtained from Avast reputation) and some others but that may have changed.

It could be the full file gets uploaded or just some parts such as the headers that will help determine if the file is malicious. I'll post back when I get this confirmed.
