Like Windows Defender's, Avast's network is huge, with a very big database. So, numbers are coherent. I believe this to be the strongest point on WD and Avast products..
Download protection against scripts/malware but they have the worst web protection against phishing and fake sites compared to eset, malwarebytes, trendmicro and heck even k7 web protection might perform better than Avast products. Avast products are great at blocking system infections but fail at detecting phishing sites. They really need to improve on this area they are a big company and can very much improve if they want to but why haven't they?

The biggest problem I had with Avast and its variants was the number of false positives on websites. However, once reported, they were very quick to address the issue and often whitelisted the site within an hour or less.
