Hopefully it's not a forced migration to Norton .

That’s kinda what I was thinking. Don’t use either one, but I have in the past.(Avast / Norton )
Was just curious to see if anyone had any ideas to what this might be.

I don't think Norton would migrate AVG/Avast to Norton product lines, I know they moved BullGuard but was a tiny vendor compared to Avast/AVG.

My own feelings they are probably going to keep Avast operating as a separate entity but owned by them.

If they did migrate it would be interesting what they do for avast/avg free users since Norton not got a free version.

Sonar is not needed by Avat tbh. After Avast acquired AVG, their behavioral protection received a boost by incorporating AVG Identity Protection (AVG’s BB).

Of course that’s a possibility. Just remember to untick the auto renew and remove your credit card, and get yourself ready to try to get a refund!!!

It says it's a deal we won't want to miss...maybe it's an Avast One/Norton 360 hybrid with Sonar and an odd-looking GUI. It's probably a paid program, whatever it is, otherwise they would not mention "deal" in the email. That is my guess.

The most ridiculous thing is if you buy a product key from a 3rd party l, they ask you to provide CC number when you activate the product key.

That hasn't been my experience when buying from third party resellers.

With any AV that requires CC etc such as Norton (I've not had that with Avast) use PayPal & then 5 mins after install block future payments, works a treat - A friend of mine uses Norton & installed the most basic AV and 1 user, they want as I remember £64:00 at next renew, beyond crazy - I told him u can buy at a pittance from EBay and add a code.

That's my experience with Norton but you can log in & cease any renewal, & a year later add another code - However it sems to me Norton make this more complicated than it need be which is why Norton is off my use list - You really need to know you can cancel renewal, legal but not very decent, no doubt lots are caught by this and pay lots for renewal - Shame as Noto is a decent AV.
