Version 1.0 of Avira Browser Safety for Internet Explorer

• Includes all functionality we are currently offering for Firefox and Chrome
• Currently limited to Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 10 and 11
• Windows 8 as well as Internet Explorer 9 support will follow later.
• Please keep in mind this is V1.0 for IE, in case you experience any issues use the bug report form

Known issues

• UI is not inserted on several pages (e.g. "http://www.bing.com/search?q=test
  
  ").
  
  
• UI fails sometimes to render Avira Offers.
• Icon doesn't work on "avira.com
  
  ".
• Icon responds with a noticeable delay after using it on a page with Avira Offers.

Installation

1. Close Internet Explorer
2. Run "avira_browser_safety_IE_1.0_beta.msi".
3. Open IE and click "Enable" on the prompt (see "enable_addon.png" attached). ABS will work for all the tabs being opened after that click. To avoid misleading with already opened tabs, it's better to restart IE.

Notes:

• ABS icon appears in the "Command bar" of IE which is hidden by default. You might want to enable it in "View -> Toolbars -> Command bar"
• Add-on version is "1.0.0.0" for now, but we'll change that to keep same versions in all browsers.

Version 1.4.3 of Avira Browser Safety for Internet Explorer

• Added update functionality.
  • With this new version we added a self-update functionality into the Avira Browser Safety extension for Internet Explorer. The version you are downloading here is always going to update itself every 6 hours to the latest beta version.
  • If you are currently testing Avira System Speedup you might encounter a pop-up telling you that a windows scheduler task has been added during the installation of ABS for IE. This is intended and will be improved in the future to make it more user-friendly.
  • Once the update has been triggered automatically after 6 hours you should receive the version 1.4.3.406.

Internet Explorer:

• saving extension state in the "clear browser history after closing" browser mode
• fixed compatibility issues with several web pages
• preventing uninstall from failing if the updater task is not present (e.g. removed)
