Not exactly. Outpost will not receive any updates, bug fixes and technical support after December 31st so it is rather a dead product.

Yeah they've already stop its updates think they sold it to Yandex, correct me if I'm wrong.
Generally speaking of the option between Win firewall and Outpost that's why I said
Outpost is a matter of preference
his comfortable with it I respect his decision:), even though we all know OutpostFW fate.

Congratulations @BCHatesMalware on your new lap top!:D
Reading your updated configuration was a joy!:)
I like the way you'd shared:
"I've managed to obtain a vast arsenal of various types of system tools, covering pretty much every possible category. ...so I am in the process of figuring out what will and will not work on my new system.". Your user name is among those that are unique and recognized.
..then it dawned on me how we had both become members during the same month and year (only :eek:2 days apart!).

CCleaner is also one of my favorite tools. As one of the latest to have recently migrated to Windows 10, I'll share that my trepidation which served to keep me from much of the incompatibility with drivers, has melted away to be replaced with unexpected :eek:Surprise!:p In fact, the Acer Aspire lap top that I'm typing from is now quicker and more responsive now than when it was new :rolleyes:with 8.1!

If you do consider upgrading to 10, here's an excerpt from the article that helped me a great deal:
  • "Microsoft doesn't offer an option to do a clean install if you're upgrading using Windows Update. The only way to perform a clean install is by manually downloading the Windows 10 installation files.

Using the Windows 10 Setup tool, you can choose to "Upgrade this PC now" or "Create installation media for another PC". Choosing the "Upgrade this PC now" will give you the choice to keep all of your files and apps. If you choose to keep your files and apps, you will be doing an in-place upgrade. Choosing not to keep your files and apps can be considered as the option to do a clean install."
source - What's better: Clean install or upgrade to Windows 10?
Downloading Windows 10 Setup tool was a much smoother experience upgrading from 8.1 than it was without downloading the upgrade tool for my wife's 7; but she decided to go back to Windows 7 which now works better than before. Going back was as quick as it usually is waiting on Microsoft updates! We're going to try 10 for her again, before the free upgrade expires, and instead will choose not to keep her files & apps installing manually, and not as a "Windows update/upgrade".

Whether you upgrade or not, enjoy your new set up!:D

Thanks for the info on Win 10....I have been giving it some thought!! :)

Yep. So, I am considering other software. :)

All my concerns have been covered. Thanks for sharing. ;)

No problem!! :)

Yes, they have. However, I'm going to use my Lifetime License until I can't. The windows default software irritates me to no end. It is not pleasant to configure. And just because it is there, does not necessarily mean that it is good. An I don't trust them. You really should trust the software/hardware you are going to be using. Those are my reasons.

Frankly, I'm kind of sorry that I even started this. :(

Last response I will give for this thread. :(

Shame. A forum is a place where ideas and views can be exchanged. No point in sharing if you don't want people to share their opinions with you.

As mentioned multiple times, everything is your decision at the end of the day and people respect your decision for yourself. They have only shared their experiences and knowledge, nothing more.

This is just a place to post your config and get feedback on it.Nobody is saying that your config is wrong but we are just giving you suggestions such as UAC & Smartscreen. If your config works for you and you are infection free then more power to you. I wouldn't change what works for me either!
Anyway thanks for sharing your config :)

You shouldn't be sorry , the forum is a place where we share/give/receive advice an opinions, some of us have long experience with various softwares and computing knowledge; we just tell what we feel and what we think you and other members should do to optimize their system; at the end the decision is yours.

You have a bad opinion of Windows' built-in security; i had the same thoughts too until Win8 (on Winxp/7 it was too bad) then i started to go deeper in the OS; and i can tell you win no hesitation that Win10 overall security is a good as some mid-end security suites. SUA + UAC at max + smartscreen + Windows Defender + patchguard + secureboot + some registry tweaks will make the system quite safe and smooth.

Now you may not believe me but that is the plain truth.

No one is forcing you to change your config. If you want to keep UAC disabled, it's your choice to make.

However I also believe the more info we have, the better our decisions can be.
What is UAC?
Protecting System Files with UAC Virtualization

We are in a security forum. Every member here can receive and give security info. But what each individual do with the information he/she receives is entirely up to them..

Agreed Phoenix,
Without information, we as a people can't make "informed" decisions.
Within these virtual walls are some very informed people that take the
time to comment and care.
That's why I love it here, and always will.

Anyway, never mind the end of my last post. I was greatly irritated about some other things. I sincerely apologize for that, because I am not usually like that. I also removed my comments. :)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions/opinions!! :)

I have greatly modified my Security Configuration, and believe that I have an extremely tight configuration, yet my machine is still quite usable. :)

A "..tight configuration.." on a "..machine..still quite usable" is a Win-Win configuration!:)

Thank you for your comments above, @BCHatesMalware.;)

Being greatly irritated happens to each of us from time to time. A good meal and a three hour nap (like the one I just had) can do wonders for ones physical configuration too!:p:D
