App Review Best Antivirus/EDR vs Unknown Ransomware

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.

Thanks for sharing this video! It's always helpful to see visual demonstrations when discussing complex topics like antivirus/EDR vs unknown ransomware. Let's discuss the points raised in this video.

Well-known brands like Avast, Norton, and Kaspersky are popular choices. Why would he test Sophos when there are more well-known brands that users typically use? Why would he show that an enterprise-grade product like CrowdStrike failed while a home product like Sophos succeeded? There might be a reason behind this. Maybe it’s not intentional, but because he has promoted Sophos for years, he might be biased.

The last minutes of every video are important, especially if the content is compelling and keeps viewers interested throughout and Sophos is there in those minutes.

The video was about testing EDR products, and the only reason why the home versions of Windows Defender, Bitdefender and Sophos were used was because they performed nearly identical to the business versions. And frankly, I am not surprised in the slightest that Bitdefender and Sophos performed better than the rest. CrowdStrike and SentinelOne in particular, primarily AI based antiviruses are overhyped and overmarketed. More conventional options like Bitdefender, for example, still reign supreme in the testing I've seen.

Yes, this is true. I’ve heard in many videos. But maybe he just finds them effective, not necessarily a paid promotion.
This is very funny to me actually. I remember the reason why I got into HitmanPro in the first place was because of him. Then you folks showed me how it doesn't scan pdf's and scripts even when they are clearly malicious and I moved onto NPE. Lol.

I am sorry to bring this to you, and people will say again that I am making software look bad, but Sophos is not anything special.

The home version offers acceptable, but rather partial protection, compared to many other vendors.
There are better options.
The business versions come in many different packages, the complete ones are rather expensive and still rather partial.
The portfolio is rather messy.

In conclusion Sophos is OK, but nothing to write home about.

I know. You aren't wrong. Kaspersky still seems to be king.

CrowndStrike is notorious for not reacting when it doesn't know.
I would have liked Leo to show the pannels of the various antivirus programs to see how they are configured.
And mixing AV for home and business users, you really have to be crazy...

( For Bitdefender, there's GravityZone and Intercept X for Sophos)
