My wife's 2-in-1 laptop (Win10) Edge with Adguard (so both Microsoft and Google/Yande safe browsing) and Chrome with Avast Online Security + Auto History Wipe

My Desktop (Win7), firefox with Adguard and Chromium with uBlockOrigin + Auto History Wipe

Avast Online Security also has ad abd tracker blocking and is most solid in NOT breaking website functionality.

I use uBlock0 as advanced user (optionally blocking third-party), with only Aguard's phising filter and Peter low's list and tracking list. I also have experimental filter enabled and added some general rules in my own (uB;lock0) filter:

# Block plug-ins for all third-party (I don't use PDF, Flash or Java plug-in anymore)
*^$object,object-subrequest,third-party

# Block behind the scene communication not from high leveldomains NL, COM, NET, ORG and INF
*^$xmlhttprequest,ping,websocket,domain=~nl|~com|~net|~org|~inf|

# Block third-party scripts and (i)frames not from high leveldomains NL, COM, NET, ORG and INF
*^$script,subdocument,third-party,domain=~nl|~com|~net|~org|~inf|
